Global Stability with Time-Delay of a Primal-Dual Congestion Control

چکیده
This paper concerns network congestion control, focusing on a recently proposed “primal-dual” control law that has been shown to give local stability and desirable equilibrium properties for networks of arbitrary capacity and a fixed bound on delay. In this paper we study global stability for these non-linear, delay differential equations, focusing for simplicity on the scenario of a single flow and bottleneck link. We first provide bounds on the state variables that hold for any choice of parameters. Then we give results regarding global stability, based on Lyapunov-Razumikhin methods and singular perturbation theory.

Primal - Dual Congestion Control Algorithms and E - Red Aqm Scheme
In this thesis, we consider the primal-dual algorithm of network congestion control and E-RED AQM scheme as its implementation in the Internet. We first overview the recent work in network congestion control area, then introduce and analyze a decentralized network congestion control algorithm which has dynamic adaptations at both user ends and link ends, a so-called primal-dual algorithm. We sh...
متن کاملGlobal Stability Analysis of Primal Internet Congestion Control Schemes with Heterogeneous Delays
The aim of network congestion control for the Internet is to allocate the available bandwidth to the users in a scalable, efficient, fair and distributed fashion. This paper is concerned with the stability properties of a class of such schemes in the presence of heterogeneous delays. In particular, we present a time-domain methodology for scalable, global stability analysis of primal network co...
متن کاملCongestion control and its stability in networks with delay sensitive traffic
We consider congestion control in a network with delay sensitive/insensitive traffic, modelled by adding explicit delay terms to the utility function measuring user’s happiness on the Quality of Service (QoS). A new Network Utility Maximization (NUM) problem is formulated and solved in a decentralized way via appropriate algorithms implemented at the users (primal) and/or links (dual). For the ...
متن کاملGlobal stability of a dual congestion control under time-varying queueing delays
This paper concerns the global dynamics of a certain “dual” network congestion control, for which the feedback signal measures a queueing delay at congested links. Earlier studies of this kind of protocol have shown attractive properties of local stability scalable to arbitrary networks, and also global stability results under more restrictive assumptions. All of these have, however, relied on ...
متن کاملFairness and Stability of End-to-End Congestion Control
In recent years the Internet has attracted the attention of many theoreticians, eager to understand the remarkable success of this diverse and complex artefact. A central element of the design philosophy that shaped the Internet is the end-to-end argument, and a key illustration of the argument is provided by the congestion avoidance algorithm of the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP). Why doe...
